Update: Two charged after weapons uncovered in Mandurah pursuit

Update:

Two men have been charged as weapons were located during a police pursuit which came to a dramatic end in Ravenswood on Thursday.

It’s alleged police attempted to stop a white Ford Falcon which was allegedly displaying false plates on Pinjarra Road in Mandurah about 10am.

Police lost sight of the vehicle before spotting it again a short time later on Teranca Road in Greenfields.

The sedan allegedly failed to stop for police leading them on a several kilometre chase along Pinjarra Road, Husband Road, through a carpark, and onto the Kwinana Freeway.

Officers pursued the vehicle for several kilometres before the car crossed onto the wrong side of Pinjarra Road and hit a police vehicle.

Police pounced ending the pursuit with a dramatic arrest near Jolly Rambler Boulevard in Ravenswood.

During a search of the vehicle it’s alleged police located and seized several knuckle dusters, a Samurai sword and a stolen rifle which are all subject to further police investigation.

The driver, a Mandurah man, has been charged with several offences including Reckless Driving to Escape Pursuit by Police, No Authority to Drive; and Drove, Caused or Permitted a Vehicle with a Forged, Replica or False Plate to be driven on a Road.

The 36-year-old is expected to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Friday.

The passenger, a Barragup man, has been charged with Unlicensed Person Possess Firearm Ammunition.

The 53-year-old is due to appear in the Mandurah Magistrates Court on May 8.

Exclusive vision shows police cars and a plume of dust before the Ford Falcon can be seen in the northbound lane of the road facing oncoming traffic.

Officers from all directions run to the vehicle and grab a man out of the car before arresting him on the ground.

What the vision doesn’t show is another person on the other side is also ripped from the car and taken into police custody.

The pursuit was just one of two chases in the area on Thursday, minutes earlier, police attempted to pull over a motorcycle in Greenfields.

Police said they attempted to stop a motorcycle allegedly not displaying registration plates on Lakes Road about 9:50am.

It’s alleged the rider tried to flee but fell off in front of police near JB HI-FI and the chase was over in under a minute.

The man was taken to Peel Health Campus for assessment.
