Watch: CCTV captures dramatic citizen takedown after woman left trapped in Mandurah crash

Brave citizens have chased down a driver who allegedly fled the scene of a serious multi-vehicle crash in Mandurah on Friday.

Emergency services were called to reports a woman was trapped after the collision involving a gold SUV, white hatchback and a truck at the intersection of Pinjarra Road and Leslie Street about 3:40pm.

The impact ripped the front of the hatchback off before the SUV came to a stop after crashing head-on into a truck on the wrong side of the road.

CCTV vision, obtained exclusively by Skeer Media, captured the moment citizens cornered the driver of the SUV at a nearby pub.

The man had allegedly ran from the scene through the grounds of a cemetery bounded by Sholl and Church Streets.

The vision shows him running, with a limp, to the rear of Mandurah’s Boathouse Tavern seconds after he jumped the cemetery’s brick wall.

More than six hero citizens can be seen running to his location from all directions, a dark 4WD even showing up to assist before police arrive moments later.

A witness, who was outside the Boathouse Tavern at the time but didn’t want to be named, told Skeer Media he saw the man jump the brick wall with two men hot on his tail.

“Two blokes jumped the fence behind him,” the man said.

“They chased him behind here, told him to sit down and said to he wasn’t going anywhere [sic].”

Meanwhile, firefighters from Falcon and Mandurah used hydraulic equipment to cut the woman free from the hatchback.

Pinjarra Road was closed in both directions for over an hour as emergency services and tow truck drivers worked to clear the area.

Police arrested the man at the scene.

Charges are expected to be laid.
