Uber driver ploughs through Mandurah BBQ store

An Uber driver has ploughed through the front of a Mandurah BBQ store this evening.

The Holden Equinox crashed through the front window of Mandurah Barbeques Galore on the corner of Gordon Road and Shepherd Road just after 6:30.

Police say the Uber driver, a man, was getting food for a customer when he accidentally accelerated forward through the front of the store.

St John Ambulance checked the driver over at the scene.

It’s understood he was left shaken but not injured.

The crash caused extensive damage to the front of the store and several products inside.

The store owner said she had just got home from work when the store security alarm went off.

She initially thought someone had broken into the premises.

The car was left lodged several metres inside and had to be winched out by tow truck drivers.

Firefighters were called to the scene after fears gas bottles were damaged, but it wasn’t the case.

Crews helped clear the scene and make the area safe.

Police were also onsite to assist.

It’s understood the driver and the store are both fully insured.
