It’s been a wild night for Perth and a busy one for emergency services with wind and rain causing havoc on our roads and damage to property.
A man has been killed after slamming into a wall in Waikiki and a tree branch has wiped out powerlines leaving thousands without power in Mandurah.
The man was driving on Safety Bay Road when he lost control on the wet bitumen and crashed into a Waikiki property.
The man died as a result of his injuries.
Meanwhile, thousands were left without power in Mandurah after a large branch snapped off a tree and brought down power lines on Park Road.
About 12:30am, Western Power, police and firefighters rushed to the area to replace and restore power.
About 3000 property’s in the area were left without power.
Police closed a small stretch of Park Road between Reserve Drive and Tindale Street but have since reopened the route.
About 400 customers in the vicinity of Park Road were still without power several hours after the incident happened.
“Power was restored the majority of those customers by 7.30am, with crews currently repairing the remaining section and hoping to be completed by lunch time,” a spokesman from Western Power said.
“We ask that if people see a fallen powerline or damage to the network, to please stay eight metres away and make the safe call to us on 13 13 51.”
