P-plater clocked allegedly travelling more than 80km/h over speed limit in Dawesville

A P-plater has been charged after allegedly travelling more than 80 kilometres per hour over the speed limit in Dawesville on Friday.

Traffic police were on patrol when they allegedly detected a white Toyota Camry sedan, being driven southbound, at a speed of 183 kilometres per hour, in a 100 zone , on the Dawesville Bypass, about 10pm.

Police said they observed the car conduct a u-turn and drive at high speed in the opposite direction before they pulled the vehicle over.

Officers discover two 15-year-old passengers were also in the car.

All three were taken Mandurah Police Station where the driver’s parents were called to attend.

The vehicle was impounded for 28 days.

The 17-year-old Golden Bay boy is expected to appear in court at a later date in relation to a Reckless Driving charge.
