P-plate driver escapes serious injury after Dawesville rollover

A red P-plate driver has escaped serious injury after a car rollover in Dawesville overnight.

The crash happened about 2am, on Old Coast Road near Bailey Boulevard.

It’s understood the Ford Ranger ute was headed southbound when it rolled several times.

The driver, a man, walked away with only minor injuries.

Skeer Media understands the P-plate driver allegedly blew over the blood alcohol limit at the scene.

Firefighters from Falcon Volunteer Fire and Rescue were called to the scene to assist with the clean up of debris and a significant fuel spill.

The brigade said on a social media post that the driver was lucky but people shouldn’t rely on luck to keep them safe.

“While there were no serious injuries from [the] crash, this could have easily not been the case,” Falcon volunteer firefighters said.

“Don’t rely on luck to keep you safe on the road – make sure you follow the law and drive carefully.

“If you are too tired or not in an appropriate state to drive call a family member, friend, Taxi, Uber or Ola driver who is.”

Police were on scene to assist with traffic management and investigate how the crash occurred.
