Mandurah Police have issued a warning after an increase in bag thefts across the region.

Officers said bags were being snatched from customers as they shopped and targeted while unloading groceries into cars.

“Please be aware of your surroundings and don’t leave your bag unattended in a shopping trolley whilst you’re selecting items,” Mandurah Police said.

“It’s better to use the bag strap to secure your bag across your body or use the child seat restraint strap to secure your bag in the trolley.

“Make sure the bag is zipped up. Make it harder for thieves to operate.”

Anyone who is the victim of a bag theft or witnesses any suspicious behaviour should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
