Man rushed to hospital after truck and car crash in Rockingham

A man has been rushed to hospital after a serious crash in Cooloongup this morning.

It’s understood a rubbish truck was headed southbound on Ennis Avenue when it collided with the passenger side of a green Hyundai Excel, headed east on Elanora Drive, about 5:50am.

Firefighters were called to the scene after reports the driver, a man, was trapped inside and injured.

St John Ambulance rushed the 21-year-old to Rockingham Hospital before he was taken to Royal Perth Hospital in a serious condition.

The 49-year-old rubbish truck driver walked away unscathed.

Ennis Avenue is closed in both directions with traffic being diverted.

Traffic is congested in the area.
