Greenfields home gutted by overnight inferno

Firefighters from across Peel and Rockingham spent several hours working to extinguish a house fire in Greenfields overnight. 

Several crews were called to the Walya Place property near Redcliffe Road about 10:25pm. 

Mandurah firefighters arrived to find a section of the home fully engulfed by flames. 

More than 25 firefighters from Falcon, Rockingham and Mandurah rushed to the scene. 

St John Ambulance were on standby as it took crews more than an hour to get the inferno under control. 

Police were also at the scene. 

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services said the cause of the fire is unclear at this stage. 

A spokesperson said inquiries are underway with fire investigations officers expected to arrive at the property on Saturday morning.
