Man injured in Fremantle axe attack

A man has been injured after he was attacked with axe in Fremantle overnight.

It’s understood two men, known to each other, became involved in a verbal argument outside the lifts of an apartment complex on Hampton Road about 7pm.

Police say the argument became physical and then the two separated.

Police allege a 29-year-old man, involved in the previous altercation, returned to the unit armed with a tomahawk.

Its further alleged that during a physical altercation he struck the victim, in his 30s, on the forearm with the axe causing a large laceration that required surgery.

Officers charged a 29-year-old East Perth man with several offences including Committed an act intended to cause grievous bodily harm or prevent arrest in the course of an aggravated home burglary.

He is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today.
