Lengthy police chase ends at petrol station near Mandurah

A police pursuit has ended with a motorcycle rider attempting to refuel at a petrol station near Mandurah this afternoon.

It’s understood police tried to pull over a black motorcycle with no plates on Pinjarra Road near Anstruther Road about 10am.

It’s alleged the rider fled from police and eventually headed towards the Halls Head area.

One witness said they saw the rider run a red light.

Officers, along with detectives and assistance from the police air wing tracked the motorcycle from Halls Head down to Dawesville, passed Herron, onto Forrest Highway near Lake Clifton, and back up to the West Pinjarra area.

At some stages, police lost sight of the rider for several minutes but were eventually able to locate him.

The rider pulled off a circuit which landed him back on Pinjarra Road near Furnissdale.

He managed to put $10 worth of petrol into the bike at the Caltex North Yunderup on Tonkin Drive before police pounced.

The man has been arrested and taken into police custody

It’s the second pursuit south of Perth today.

It’s understood police engaged in a pursuit with a Harley Davidson in the Rockingham area.

Skeer Media understands the rider is known to police and its alleged he has some connection with their investigation into a stolen car in Mandurah.

The police air wing was unable to assist with the Rockinham pursuit because it had to refuel.

It’s not known if an arrest has been made.
