Brawl spills onto court as families clash at Mandurah basketball game

A large brawl has broken out at a children’s basketball game at the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre on Tuesday evening.

Police confirmed up to 70 people were involved in an altercation at the centre’s Basketball courts around 6:30pm.

Officers said a fight broke out between families during the last few seconds of a girls game.

It’s understood two girls were involved in a fight at a local Mandurah school last Thursday which resulted in the mayhem between two families.

Vision obtained by Skeer Media shows children running away from the brawl as it spills on to the court.

Witnesses spoke exclusively with Skeer Media.

They say a young girl was allegedly bashed and that an older woman was injured during the ordeal.

One witness said an umpire was allegedly bitten on the arm.

The witness added that a young man came out of the toilets “covered in blood and ripped of his shirt like a crazy man.”

More than 15 police cars rushed to the scene as the situation spilled into the centres carpark.

Skeer Media understands officers arrested some of those involved and spoke with them in a room at the scene.

Some of those involved then targeted a home with rocks in Coodanup.

A 35-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl were taken into custody.

Charges are yet to be laid.

Mandurah Police, along with Detectives, say they’re investigating the identities of those involved and are working with the community to ease tensions between the groups.

Authorities have asked anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
