Hail causes damage to Safety Bay home

A hail storm has caused significant damage to a Safety Bay home on Thursday morning.

Hail lashed parts of the state including the Rockingham region, Dwellingup, Bunbury and Margaret River around 6am.

Dozens of users posted pictures to social media showing large amounts of hail on their lawns, cars, and homes.

Safety Bay resident Jeanette Goodwin told Skeer Media she knew it was hail straight away and that it was so strong it put holes in her roof and patio blinds.

“It was a bit scary,” she said

“I woke with the noise of the hail [and the] patio roof full of holes where the hail came through.

“Every sheet needs replaced.”

Mrs Goodwin said she is insured and estimates the damage repair costs to be thousands of dollars.

Wild weather will continue to hit southern parts of the state overnight.

A severe weather warning has been issued for South West regions between Mandurah and Albany.

Thunderstorms and showers may produce damaging winds with gusts of up to 100 kilometres per hour.

Damaging winds are expected to develop along the west coast around 10pm, extending eastwards after midnight.
