An elderly man was cut free from a single-car crash on Lakes Road in Greenfields on Thursday.

About 9:30am, emergency services across Mandurah and Rockingham rushed to Lakes Road, near Kelso Lane, after reports a car had lost control, hit a tree and spun out.

Firefighters used specialised equipment to cut open the door and free a male driver, in his 70s, from the white Mustang.

An occupant from another car told Skeer Media she was on the way to hospital, because her baby brother was having a medical episode, when the car was centimetres away from colliding with them.

“I’m so shaken up, we had to slam on the breaks and it all happened so fast,” she said.

“I thought it was some idiot teenager speeding and it made me so mad.

“Luckily everyones okay and it wasn’t more serious.” She said.

The baby boy and his mother were taken to Peel Health Campus for treatment.

The man in his 70s, was taken to hospital with non-life threatning injures.

Lakes Road was closed in both directions between Legend Crescent and Kwella Entrance.

The crash was a single-car crash, not a two-car collision as reported by other media outlets.
