Rider dies after Halls Head motorcycle crash

A 29-year-old Dawesville man has died in hospital after a motorcycle crash in Halls Head on Saturday .

About 8:30pm, the man crashed the Harley Davidson on Old Coast Road during an alleged police chase through Mandurah.

The chase started near Sutton Street and went for several kilometres along Pinjarra Road before the man crashed.

St John ambulance conveyed the man, in a critical condition, to Halls Head oval, near Peelwood Parade to be airlifted.

About 10:45pm, The RAC Rescue helicopter transported the man to Royal Perth Hospital.

The man died days later in hospital.

Traffic was backed up along Old Coast Road as crowd goers returned from the Channel Seven Mandurah Crab Fest. 

Old Coast Road remained closed throughout the night between San Macro Quays and Leisure Way as the Major Crash Unit gathered evidence.
