It’s believed a woman, her three children, and a dog were seriously injured and had to be airlifted after a crash in Hopeland on Monday evening.

About 6:45pm, it was reported that a car had crashed into a tree and people were seriously injured on Karnup Road near Hopeland Road.

Skeer Media understands a woman and her three children aged between two and 12 had just picked up the family dog after returning from a trip down south.

Two of the state’s RAC Rescue Helicopters attended the scene.

The mother, a driver in her late 20s, was flown to hospital with serious injuries.

Two children were also flown to hospital with suspected broken bones by the second helicopter, a third child was taken by ambulance for treatment.

It’s believed the dog was sitting in the back seat of the car when it crashed, the impact sent the dog flying into the front dash.

A witness said that a neighbour spotted the dog walking around covered in blood and originally thought it was hit by a car.

Karnup Road was closed in both directions for more than an hour as emergency crews assisted the victims and cleared the scene.

A local resident told Skeer Media that the area is ‘renowned for accidents’ and the ‘stretch of road is extremely dangerous.’

The man said he doesn’t feel safe pulling out of his own driveway and people aren’t paying enough attention on the roads.
