Police hunt man who used axe in violent Rockingham robbery

Rockingham detectives are searching for a man who pulled out an axe during a robbery on Monday.

About 4:00pm, it’s believed a man attempted to leave a store on Council Avenue without paying for a trolley of products.

When staff confronted the man it’s alleged he produced a small axe from his shorts and swung it at the shop attendants.

The man is described as fair skinned, aged in his early 30s, is a slim build, about 170cm tall and has dark blond hair.

He was last seen running west through the Read Street underpass, wearing a red t-shirt and dark shorts.
