Police locate drowned mans body in Lake near Collie


UPDATE:

Police divers have located 22-year-old John Rashidi’s body.

Mr Rashidi was swimming at Stockton Lake with friends when he failed to surface on Monday afternoon.

About 9:20am, on Wednesday, his body wad located 30 metres from the bank and in water 15 metres deep.

The lake and campground will re-open to the public later today

POLICE DIVERS SEARCH LAKE FOR MISSING MALE

Police divers are searching for a missing person, believed to have drowned in Stockton Lake, Collie.

On Monday afternoon, it’s believed a 22-year-old male was seen struggling in the water at Stockton Lake.

Skeer Media understands that three woman swam out and attempted to rescue him.

Other bystanders also rushed out shortly afterwards but he was already submerged.

Stockton Lake is up to 30 metres deep, police and specialist divers will work to recover the body, however, there’s some concerns that the depth of water will make it almost impossible for police to locate the male.

The South African male was traveling with his family of five.

The lake will remain closed as police divers continue their search.
