WOMAN LEFT KIDS IN CAR WITH DYING PASSENGER, CATABY CRASH
A female driver has fled the scene of a fatal crash that happened on Sunday in Cataby.
About 9:00am a Holden Commodore travelling north on Brand Highway, 2 kilometres north of the roadhouse, crossed onto the wrong side of the road and crashed into the trailers of a Mack truck and a Mazda that were both traveling south in the opposite direction.
A 41-year-old Karloo man, who was sitting in the back of the Commodore, died at the scene while two boys aged four and ten suffered minor injuries.
It’s alleged the 40-year-old female driver of the Commodore left the man and the two boys at the scene after she stole a Nissan Navara, towing a caravan, from a bystander that had stopped to help.
She drove for at least 40km in the stolen car to a farm near Badgingarra where she was located by police and taken into custody.
Major Crash Detectives are appealing for anyone that witnessed the series of events, or saw the Commodore prior to the crash to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or making a report online at crimestopperswa.com.au.
